The Huntsville Concert Band is under the direction of Jesse Pascua. A native of Waipahu, Hawaii, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Mr. Pascua began his musical career performing with local bands and community theater productions in Hawaii.
In 1987, Mr. Pascua joined the United States Army as a trombone player. He played in several Army Bands until 2000, when he became a Warrant Officer and Bandmaster. From 2000 to 2016, he commanded several Army Bands, including the 4th Infantry Division Band (Ft. Hood, TX), the 25th Infantry Division Band (Schofield Barracks, HI), the 56th Army Band (Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA), the 98th Army Band (Ft. Rucker, AL), and the 398th Army Band (Redstone Arsenal, AL).
After his retirement from the military in 2016, Mr. Pascua joined the Huntsville Concert Band as principal trombonist before accepting the position of Music Director in July 2016. He continues his instrumental playing as the lead trombone for Huntsville’s In the Mood Swing Band.
He is a member of the International Trombone Association, the United States Army Warrant Officer Association, the United States Army Association, and the Military Officers Association of America.
Mr. Pascua is married to Jeanet from Ewa Beach, Hawaii. They have two adult children, Jesse and Janice.
