The Huntsville Concert Band will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a concert in the Lee High School Auditorium on Sunday, March 16, at 3:00 PM.
Under the direction of Marsha Asquith, the Band will perform concert band classics by Ralph Vaughan Williams and William Schuman, a 2013 work by American composer Samuel Hazo, and transcriptions of Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance Op. 46 No. 8 and the John Williams soundtrack to The Cowboy and the Girl, as well as a medley of classic songs as interpreted by Michael Bublé. Huntsville’s own Dr. Daniel Hornstein will be the featured euphonium soloist in Jean Baptiste Arban’s Fantasie, Theme and Variations on The Carnival of Venice.
There is no admission charge, and tickets are not required. A reception will follow in the auditorium lobby.
This program has been made possible by a 2014 Arts & Cultural Grant funded by the City of Huntsville.
